The Official Bureau of Lost Things

Created in collaboration with 4 other artists (Alex Young, Kallie Melvin, Pete Talbot, and Olli Johnson), this was a large-scale interactive installation for an all-night art festival in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the interest of processing loss and poking fun at bureaucracy, we invited participants to share about a loss they held onto. The loss was then "processed" through an elaborate, ten-foot-tall chain reaction machine, designed and built by Pete and Olli. We then archived the loss into the Bureau by projecting an improvised shadow puppet version of the story of loss onto a 30-foot wall with overhead projectors.
