Below the Underneath
Below the Underneath was created as part of the Bell Museum of Natural History’s Resident Artist Research Program. In collaboration with the curator of fishes, Dr. Andrew Simmons, and local malacologists, I created a performance honoring freshwater mussels and biodiversity. This piece includes shadow puppets, paper puppets, and automata, as well as original music by Emily Kestrel of Sister Species. This project led to an artist residency with the Lake Pepin Legacy Alliance and a parade of mussel puppets.
This piece is available to tour and has been performed in local libraries, elementary schools, and nature centers.
